Meet Dr. James Summers, DO, FACS
General, Trauma, Burn, and Wound Surgeon
As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Summers treats an incredibly diverse range of conditions using traditional, minimally invasive, and robotic techniques. His areas of care include gallbladder disease; hernias of all types; cancers and other disorders of the breast, bowel, colon, appendix, stomach, and skin; as well as equally common but less frequently discussed conditions such as hemorrhoids, pilonidal disease, cysts, lipomas, and other soft-tissue concerns. He also routinely performs upper and lower endoscopic procedures, including EGDs and colonoscopies. Dr. Summers is also proud to be part of an active trauma and burn program.
His training in general surgery allows him to treat a broad spectrum of conditions using traditional, minimally invasive, and robotic techniques. Dr. Summers is passionate about helping patients experience relief, regain function, and return to their daily lives, finding deep fulfillment in seeing meaningful improvement where pain or limitation once existed.

Originally from Layton, Utah, Dr. Summers has a deep appreciation for the mountains of Idaho, spending his winters snowboarding and his summers hiking. He also enjoys relaxing at the beach, playing guitar, and never underestimates the value of a good nap.
Dr. Summers is now accepting new patients for surgical consultations and care. He is committed to guiding patients through every step of their surgical journey, from the initial evaluation to recovery and beyond. With a focus on clear communication, individualized treatment plans, and compassionate care, Dr. Summers works to ensure patients feel informed, confident, and fully supported throughout their experience.
